Sprinturf Opens LEAP Grant Applications to Expand Community Access to Recreation

Applications open for approximately $500,000 in matching funds to help communities build durable, year-round places to play.

DANIEL ISLAND, SC, UNITED STATES, September 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Sprinturf is now accepting applications for the third round of its LEAP Grant program, which provides matching funds to schools, municipalities, and community organizations working to expand access to high quality athletic and recreational spaces.

Sprinturf expects to award approximately $500,000 in total funding in this round to schools, local governments, and community organizations creating safe, inclusive spaces for athletics and play. The program has awarded funding to 23 projects across 17 states since launching in January 2025, supporting field replacements, grass to synthetic turf conversions, and new installations for baseball, softball, football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, multipurpose use, and practice fields.

Eligible projects must use synthetic turf as the primary surfacing material for an athletic field or play area, include safety features such as a shock pad for impact absorption, and demonstrate community involvement, matching funds, and a commitment to ongoing maintenance. Preference is given to projects that replace an existing artificial turf field, prioritize sustainable practices, and deliver designs accessible to all community members.

Consideration will be given to communities where access to quality playing surfaces is limited, including those managing aging facilities, constrained maintenance budgets, or a shortage of available field space relative to the number of teams and programs that depend on them.

In addition to grant funding, Sprinturf supports recipients with design expertise and installation support to help projects move efficiently from planning to completion. For field replacements, Sprinturf also provides turf removal and infill reclamation using in-house crews and specialized equipment.
