BTG Pactual Global Alternatives Appoints Eric Ballantine as Co-Head of Research for Performing Credit

BTG Pactual Global Alternatives, a US$ 11.5 billion division of BTG Pactual focused on specialized alternative investments, has announced the appointment of Eric Ballantine as Managing Director and Co-Head of Research for its Performing Credit strategy.

In this role, Eric will co-lead the research function for Performing Credit alongside Brian O’Leary, overseeing fundamental credit analysis across the platform’s portfolios. He will contribute to investment decision-making and support the team’s underwriting process.

Eric brings 27 years of credit market experience to the role. He joins BTG Pactual Global Alternatives from CVC Credit Partners, where he spent 19 years as a Director and senior credit analyst covering the Automotive, Industrials, and Retail sectors. During his tenure, Eric developed extensive industry knowledge, strong management relationships, and experience conducting fundamental credit analysis across market cycles. Earlier in his career, Eric spent eight years at Standard & Poor’s as a credit analyst, where he also helped develop the firm’s Credit Surveillance Alert Team (CSAT), an initiative focused on monitoring market indicators to identify potential credit anomalies.

This appointment reflects the continued expansion of BTG Pactual Global Alternatives’ Performing Credit platform, including the appointments of Vincent Ingato as Senior Portfolio Manager for Performing Credit and Brian O’Leary as Co-Head of Research for Performing Credit in April 2026, as well as Chris Allen as Head of Performing Credit in September 2025.

“Eric’s extensive sector knowledge and experience in credit markets make him an outstanding addition to our Performing Credit strategy,” said Gerrity Lansing, Head of BTG Pactual Global Alternatives. “His appointment reinforces our continued commitment to building a strong research-driven strategy and expanding our capabilities in performing credit.”

“I have known Eric for over 20 years, and he is exactly the kind of seasoned credit analyst we need to further strengthen our research platform,” said Chris Allen, Head of Performing Credit. “His deep sector expertise across Automotive, Industrials, and Retail, combined with his experience navigating complex credit environments, will be a tremendous asset to the team and to our investors.”

“I am excited to join BTG Pactual Global Alternatives at such a compelling moment for performing credit,” said Eric Ballantine, Co-Head of Research for Performing Credit. “I believe the platform is building something truly differentiated, and I look forward to working alongside Brian and the broader team to target attractive risk-adjusted returns for our investors.”

BTG Pactual Global Alternatives’ Performing Credit strategy focuses on senior secured loans to larger companies, with an emphasis on liquidity, rigorous underwriting, and active portfolio management across developed markets.
