The LoRa Alliance, the open, non-profit organization defining, evolving and promoting the LoRaWAN® standard, announced the winners of its annual awards honoring individual and corporate member contributions to the advancement of LoRaWAN.
The latest LoRa Alliance Contribution Awards honored individuals in the categories of Lifetime Achievement, Leadership, and Distinguished Services. In addition, a Corporate Award acknowledged a single company’s support of the standard and involvement in LoRa Alliance activities.
“These awards reflect the important roles these parties have played in the LoRa Alliance and in LoRaWAN’s growth over the last year,” said Alper Yegin, CEO of the LoRa Alliance. “In the years to come, LoRaWAN will continue to grow and advance globally thanks to their efforts and the continuing contributions of so many others.”
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals who’ve made significant contributions or provided leadership across the LoRa Alliance.
Boris Stöckermann, ZENNER, has contributed nearly a decade of leadership and service to the LoRa Alliance. Since becoming involved in 2016, he has led the Smart Cities and Buildings Work Group, contributed extensively to the Marketing Committee and served as a highly visible LoRaWAN Ambassador. His collaborative leadership has helped shape both the Alliance’s activities and the market’s understanding of the LoRaWAN ecosystem.
Rémi Demerlé, Semtech, has provided sustained leadership through the Smart Water & Energies Work Group and longstanding support for the promotion of LoRaWAN across the global utilities market. Through industry engagement, ecosystem collaboration and market education, he has played an important role in raising awareness of LoRaWAN for water, energy and smart metering applications.
Leadership Award
The Leadership Award honors a committee, work group or task force leader who has brought members together and delivered meaningful results supporting the development or promotion of LoRaWAN.
Jonas Prapuolenis, UAB Mainlink, receives the award for his leadership as chair of the Network Capacity Task Force. His technical expertise, determination and collaborative approach were central to the development of the recently published LoRaWAN Network Capacity Optimization for Utility Applications white paper, for which he served as a principal contributor and driving force.
Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award celebrates individuals who have provided exceptional support or made major contributions to specific LoRa Alliance initiatives during the past year.
Jan-Philipp Exner, ZENNER, has demonstrated strong leadership through the Smart Cities and Buildings Work Group and an ability to connect technical standardization with practical, scalable urban deployments. Through his contributions to the Marketing Committee and his work as a webinar host, international speaker and moderator, he has helped educate the market and amplify the Alliance’s voice globally.
Johan Stokking, The Things Industries, has made significant contributions to the Technical Committee and the wider LoRaWAN developer community. As chair of the Plug-and-Play Task Force, he has applied his leadership and technical expertise to simplifying development and accelerating the growth of the LoRaWAN ecosystem.
Ron Gallon, ZENNER, has provided five years of wide-ranging service across the LoRa Alliance. He chairs the Device & Solution Makers Forum, contributes to several technical and marketing activities, supports member recruitment, and regularly promotes LoRaWAN through presentations at industry events.
Thomas Telkamp, Lacuna Space, receives the award for his pioneering work in satellite IoT and his leadership as chair of the LoRaWAN over Satellites Task Force. His technical vision has helped extend LoRaWAN’s potential reach beyond terrestrial network coverage and has made satellite connectivity more accessible to the broader ecosystem.
Corporate Award
TEKTELIC has played a leading role in advancing both the work of the LoRa Alliance and the global adoption of LoRaWAN. Its team contributes actively across the Technical and Marketing Committees and numerous work groups and task forces, while also chairing the Regional Parameters Work Group and the Network Operators Forum. Beyond its Alliance activities, TEKTELIC has consistently promoted LoRaWAN worldwide through its own market engagement and industry outreach. This combination of sustained Alliance leadership and strong global advocacy has made a significant contribution to the continued evolution, visibility and adoption of LoRaWAN.
Together, this year’s recipients reflect the member expertise, commitment and collaboration that underpin the LoRa Alliance’s work to develop and promote the LoRaWAN standard worldwide.
